What are the best ways to get into a good graduate school for psychology?
Q. I'm in psychology club at an undergraduate school and I am planning on joining Psi Chi. What jobs should I get/volunteer work/etc.? Also, when do I do my research assignment? what year in school? Since I'm a counseling psych major do I do an internship AND a research assignment?

A. Your advisor should be able to answer a lot of these questions because they vary from school to school. Volunteering suggestions: nursing home, senior citizen food deliveries like Meals on Wheels, working on crisis lines, youth centers and after-school programs, become a youth mentor, kids' clubs. You need to decide what population you'd prefer to work with. I definitely recommend getting plenty of real-world experience under your belt before rushing off to graduate school. I went straight to graduate school from undergrad and I really wish I hadn't!

psi ball, and telekinesis... It was so weird!!?
Q. did quite believe in these, but wasn't sure about it. I always did since I was young, but the people around me kept telling me that it's not real.. But I still did believe in it. But please understand.. that It is hard for me to believe it. I am trying to though! I tried what you suggested, the psi ball. And.. I felt heat between my hands, and it seemed like my hands were pushing each other away If I tried to get them closer! And at some point I'll lose the feeling. I kept tryiing it and after 2~3 times.. I couldn't feel the magnetic thing. Why is this..? Is there like a limit to your chi..? that it has to be restored or something!? And I am quite convinced about these stuffs now. And is it possible to later on freeze water or… [cont.]

A. Through much effort you are forcing yourself to hallucinate. You spend time trying to see something--wanting to see it. And then, you see it. Are you surprised? The trick is to establish that it exists beyond your imagination. You say you feel heat. Can you measure that heat? You will find that your ability to create psi balls will *always* fall just short of objective measurement. You'll never be able to boil or freeze water this way. The reason? Because it's all in your imagination. I don't say this to be a mean person, but to save you from wasting your time and energy, and to prevent you from falling into the habit of employing magical explanations for what goes on in this world.
